Fairness
“I make decisions based upon the whole picture. I treat others the way I would like to be treated. I am just.”

Thinking...
Discuss a time when you felt judged without others knowing the whole situation. How do you feel the person(s) involved should have acted differently? Have you ever treated someone unfairly because you judged him/her without knowing the whole story?

“The rich get richer and the poor get poorer” is a common phrase in society.
Do you think this is the way society will progress? What do you think needs to be done to stop the unequal division of resources? What are the tangible ways the FindingLife team and your class are working to create change?

Doing...
Mentally divide the class into two groups. Group One will nclude about 1/8 of your students while the remaining 7/8 comprise Group Two.
Without explanation, give each student in Group One 3 treats. In Group Two, provide 1 treat for 3 students only.
Wait for the reaction - it won’t take long! Discuss whether this process is fair. Why? Why not? Can we make it more fair? How? Should everyone get the same? Do some people deserve more than others?
Explain to the students that this is representative of the global food distribution. Have the students share the candy equally and let them enjoy!
